Fábrica

Project FABRICA is located in the historical area of Porto. The down town Porto has been through a significant process of renovation due to the high number of buildings in critical shape. The project aims to explore important demands on living such as light, ventilation and flexibility. These buildings from the beginning of the century present important conditions to take into consideration because normally they are not very wide and extremely deep.

We decided to break the building in two small towers origination an interior patio, where light and air circulate. We had to keep the existing facades, and all the story happens within this limits. In the back, south facing houses an outside terrace split in two levels. The level above designated for the housing tenants and the terrace in the level bellow is located an exterior area for the shop on ground floor.
